KRAMER
FAMILY OF ARTISTS
The silent giants
For six generations, the Kramer dynasty has devoted its artistic talents to painting and sculpture. Perfection and precision in the execution of their work are uncompromisingly practiced and passed on. This includes internal criticism as well as a solid education in arts and crafts and academics. Countless works by family members have been created since then.
The family’s survival was secured by carrying out commissioned works. This often stood in the way of artistic ambition. There were frequent differences and conflicts with clients, critics, and patrons, which is why most of the work was done behind the scenes and could not be presented to the public. The actual artists held back, and public recognition was mostly appropriated by others.
Each generation makes it their mission to define the concept of art in a contemporary way using new materials and techniques, thus making the Kramers‘ artistic work sustainable for the future. Through this individual artistic aspiration, they also consciously work outside the mainstream.
